34th Senior National throwball begins in Patna







Patna, December 27, 2011: The 34th Senior National throwball championships got off to a colourful start at Patna Central School (PCS) ground here on Tuesday.

The inaugural ceremony had all the ingredients of a mega sporting affair. Participating teams entered the ground in Olympic style and students of PCS presented several colorful dance sequences on the theme of unity in diversity and on the songs composed by Acharya Sudarshanjee Maharaj.
Bihar Minority Welfare and Information Technology Minister Shahid Ali Khan inaugurated the championships.

Chief-patron of the organising committee Acharya Sudarshanji Maharaj, Throwball Federation of India chairman Naresh Maan, its treasure Sribala Vinayakam, assistant secretary Avinash Natbare, Bihar Players Association president Mirtunjay Tiwari were present in the opening function. Throwball Association of Bihar secretary Niraj Kumar Pappu welcomed the guests while PCS vice-chairman YK Sudarshan presided over the function.

In the on-field actions, Bihar women started their campaign with a fluent 15-2, 15-1 victory over Jharkhand.
In the men’s section, Delhi beat Tamil,Nadu 15-11, 12-15 and 15-7.
