Aslam Sher Khan elected Olympian Association of India president

New Delhi, December 13, 2011: A meeting of the Olympian Association of India was held on Tuesday at Olympic Bhawan here. The office bearers of the Olympian Association were elected in the meeting. Raja Randhir Singh, IOC member and secretary General Indian Olympic Association will be the chief patron and Balbir Singh (Senior) and Milkha Singh will be the patrons of the Association.

Aslam Sher Khan was unanimously elected as president (hockey) along with Gurbhachan Singh Randhawa (athletics), Harbinder Singh (hockey), Col. Balbir Singh (hockey) and Gurbir Singh Sandhu (shooting) as vice presidents, Ajit Pal Singh (hockey), secretary and Sanjeeva Kumar Singh (archery) as joint secretary.
Members of the associations are Rupa Saini (hockey), Manjit Dua (table tennis), Karnam Malleswari (weightlifting), Leander Paes (tennis), Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (shooting), Sushil Kumar (wrestling), Vijender Singh (boxing), Abhinav Bindra (shooting), Ashwini Nachppa (athletics), Jagbir Singh (hockey), Subhash Verma (wrestling), Shiva Keshvan (Luge-Winter Games), Sumangla (archery), Charles Borromeo (athletics), SS Hakim (football) Ram Singh (athletics), Capt. Srichand Ram (athletics), Anwar Sultan (ahooting) Kunju Rani (weightlifting).

Indian Olympic Association acting president VK Malhotra welcomed all the Olympians attended the meeting and said that the expertise of the sportspersons would be availed by the Indian Olympic Association.

Randhir Singh, secretary general, Indian Olympic Association also welcomed the members present and said that new committee would provide useful inputs to IOA and NSF so that sport get further boost in the country.

The newly elected Olympian Association of India president Aslam Sher Khan said he would do his best for the welfare of the sportspersons of the country.
