Stage set for East Zone rating chess tournament in Patna


Patna, December 14, 2011: Chess Association of Bihar will organize  East Zone Open rating chess tournament at the Indian Institute of Health Education and Research Centre Hall here from December 17 to December 21..
Anil Sulabh, organising president of the tournament, said the tourney would carry a prize money of Rs 2 lakh to be distributed among the top finishers.
He said current national champions Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Vipal Subhashi and other 150 players from East Zone states like West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Manipur, Jharkhand and Bihar would to take part in the five-day tournament.
Top rating 50 players will take part in the main group while other group matches will also be played in different age categories like veteran men and women group, under-19, under-16, under-14, under-12 and under-10.
Champion of the tournament would get a cash prize of Rs 25,000 while second position holder would get Rs 15,000 and the third spot holder Rs 10,000, Sulabh said.
